The original Greek phrase actually translates to ‘let go’ This was part of today’s message and is most probably what the psalmist meant in Psalm 37 verse 7: ‘Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes‘ [New Living Translation]. This verse tells Christians how to view and respond to the situations we face. We can feel a big sense of relief when we figuratively (and sometimes literally) let go and recognise that ‘…battle is not yours, but God’s’ [2 Chronicles 20 verse 15].
Let us take God at His Word, give Him the benefit of the doubt and trust that he will sort out our problems. We will find that indeed ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him’ [1st Corinthians 2 verse 9].
